LG Electronics Showcases Korean Innovation, Shared Progress at South Korea National Day Celebration

Technology often tells its most meaningful story when people can experience it for themselves. At the Republic of Korea’s National Day celebration in Abuja, guests were given that opportunity as LG Electronics showcased innovations designed to support more convenient, connected and efficient lifestyles, reinforcing the enduring relationship between Nigeria and South Korea.

Hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea under the theme “One Heaven. One Earth. One Humanity,” the event brought together government officials, members of the diplomatic community, business leaders and development partners to celebrate friendship, collaboration and shared aspirations for sustainable growth.

Amid discussions on diplomacy and co-operation, LG Electronics created an interactive experience that allowed guests to engage directly with Korean technology and innovation.

Visitors explored a range of solutions, including premium OLED displays, Soundbar & xboom Audio, AI-powered home appliances and smart living technologies, gaining firsthand insight into how innovation can enhance comfort, convenience and energy efficiency in everyday life.

The interactions reflected a growing interest in practical technologies that address real needs while supporting a more connected lifestyle.

At the event, Mr. Hyoung Sub Ji, Managing Director of LG Electronics, noted that innovation achieves its greatest value when it improves people’s lives. “Technology is most meaningful when it creates positive experiences for people. What made this event special was seeing guests engage openly, ask questions and discover how innovation can address everyday challenges. As a Korean brand that has shared a long journey with Nigeria, we remain committed to delivering solutions that make life better while fostering stronger connections between our two countries,” he said.

The celebration also highlighted the deepening relationship between Nigeria and South Korea and the opportunities that exist across technology, education, trade, entrepreneurship and skills development. In his keynote address, the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Nigeria, Ambassador Jeong Yo-an, emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between both nations, pointing to innovation, human capital development and strategic partnerships as key drivers of sustainable growth.

“Companies such as LG Electronics exemplify the strength of Korea-Nigeria cooperation, demonstrating how innovation can translate into meaningful home appliances, energy-efficient. Moreso, as the brand contributes to a more convenient, connected and sustainable future,” he said.

Representing Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Babagana Wakil, Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, called for stronger cooperation in areas including industrial manufacturing, technology transfer, agriculture, education and maritime development, underscoring the immense potential for both countries to grow together through practical collaboration.

Beyond official speeches, the evening reflected the power of cultural exchange in building lasting relationships. Through Korean cuisine, traditional performances, Taekwondo demonstrations and interactions among guests, the event celebrated the human connections that continue to strengthen ties between both nations.

The growing popularity of Korean culture in Nigeria and the increasing global reach of Nigerian creative industries further demonstrate how people-to-people engagement is creating new avenues for mutual understanding and collaboration.

For LG Electronics, participation in the celebration represented more than showcasing technology. It reflected the company’s belief that innovation should be accessible, meaningful and capable of making a positive difference in people’s daily lives.

As Nigeria and South Korea continue to deepen their partnership, technology, shared experiences and human-centered innovation remain powerful bridges connecting both nations.

South Korea’s National Foundation Day, commemorates the founding ideals of the Korean people, often interpreted as “to benefit all humanity.”

The Abuja celebration reflected that vision, bringing together diverse communities and demonstrating how innovation, partnership and shared progress can create lasting impact for future generations.
