Ernest Ndukwe, immediate past Executive Vice-Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) are set to grace the 5th Anniversary Lecture/Awards of Business Journal magazine scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2013 at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja.
A statement by Prince Cookey, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Business Journal, stated that Yuguda would be the Special Guest of Honour at the event and will also receive an award: ‘Champion of Good Governance & Sustainable Development’ in recognition of his sterling qualities in promoting the tenets of good governance in Nigeria and embarking on sustainable developmental strides in Bauchi State.
In the same vein, Ndukwe will chair the event and would also be honoured with ‘Telecom Life Achievement Award’ in recognition of his decades of achievements and commitment to the telecom industry in Nigeria.

The Impact of Low Oil Prices on sub-Saharan Africa

Growth picked up in sub-Saharan Africa in 2014, after moderating in 2013, but remained weaker than during the pre-crisis years. It softened around the turn of the year owing to headwinds from the plunge in the price of oil. Sub-Saharan Africa’s oil exporters, which account for nearly half of the region’s aggregate output, have been hit hard by the sharp decline in the price of oil. From June 2014 to January 2015, oil prices fell by nearly 50%, and have remained low despite the recent uptick.

Headline Inflation Accelerates in April; Rises to 22-month High

The MPC concluded its third seating for the year with all policy rates left unchanged save the Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) which was harmonized to 31.0%. This was in contrast to the previous 20.0% on private sector deposit and 75.0% public sector deposit (35.0% effective rate as at February 2015). We expect the equities market to react positively to this, given its implied impact on interest income of banking tickers going forward.
