PenOp CEO: Recapitalisation Will Strengthen the Capacity of Insurance, Pension Sectors

Goodwill message to the 11th NAIPE Annual Conference 2026

BY ANTHONIA IFEANYI-OKORO

CEO, PENOP

It is my great pleasure to extend warm greetings and heartfelt goodwill to the leadership and members of the Nigerian Association of Insurance and Pension Editors (NAIPE), distinguished guests, industry stakeholders, and all participants at the 11th NAIPE Annual Conference.

The theme of this year’s conference, “Post-Recapitalisation Market Dynamics in the Insurance and Pension Sectors,” is both timely and highly relevant, particularly as the financial services landscape continues to evolve.

The recapitalisation exercise presents significant opportunities for strengthening the resilience, capacity, competitiveness, and sustainability of both sectors, while also bringing new dynamics and responsibilities for industry operators and stakeholders.

As the pension and insurance industries navigate this new phase, there is a critical need for informed analysis, effective regulation, innovation, transparency, and public awareness. The media, particularly specialised financial and industry journalists, have an important role to play in providing accurate information, promoting accountability, educating the public, and shaping constructive conversations around developments within the sectors.

I commend NAIPE for consistently providing a credible platform for stakeholders to engage on issues affecting the growth and development of Nigeria’s pension and insurance industries.

This conference offers an opportunity to examine the opportunities and challenges arising from recapitalisation and to identify practical strategies that will deepen market penetration, strengthen consumer confidence, enhance financial inclusion, and ultimately contribute to Nigeria’s economic development.

I am confident that the robust discussions and exchange of ideas at this conference will produce valuable insights and actionable recommendations for policymakers, regulators, operators, professionals, and other stakeholders.

I therefore congratulate NAIPE on the successful organisation of its 11th Annual Conference and wish all participants fruitful deliberations, meaningful engagements, and a successful outcome.

May this conference further strengthen collaboration among the media, regulators, operators, and other stakeholders, and contribute to a stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable insurance and pension industry in Nigeria.

Thank you and I wish you all a successful conference.
