AXA Mansard CEO, Kunle Ahmed, Wins Insurance Brand Personality of the Decade Award

The Chief Executive Officer of AXA Mansard Insurance Plc, Kunle Ahmed, has been named Outstanding Insurance Brand Personality of the Decade at the Marketing Edge Awards, in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the development of Nigeria’s insurance industry.

‎The award acknowledges Ahmed’s efforts towards deepening insurance penetration, strengthening public confidence and making insurance protection more accessible and relevant to Nigerians.

‎His contributions extend beyond his leadership at AXA Mansard, having also served as chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), where he played a role in advancing industry collaboration and supporting the growth of the insurance sector.

‎Speaking on the recognition, Ahmed said the award was not only a personal milestone but also an acknowledgement of the collective efforts of stakeholders working to strengthen the industry.

‎“I am honoured to receive this recognition from Marketing Edge. I see it not only as a milestone but as an acknowledgement of the collective work being done to strengthen Nigeria’s insurance industry and demonstrate the value of protection to more people,” he said.

‎Ahmed noted that his experience at AXA Mansard and the NIA had reinforced the importance of collaboration, innovation and sustained efforts to build trust in insurance.

‎According to him, despite the progress recorded by the industry, more work is required to deepen penetration and make insurance protection more accessible to Nigerians.

‎He expressed appreciation to colleagues at AXA Mansard, the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), industry trade associations and other professionals for their contributions to the sector’s development.

‎“I receive this recognition as encouragement to keep contributing to its growth and development,” he added.

‎Reacting to the award on behalf of AXA Mansard, the company’s General Counsel and Human Resources Director, Omowunmi Mabel-Adewusi, congratulated Ahmed, describing the recognition as a testament to his leadership and commitment to building enduring institutions.

‎She said his leadership had strengthened the company’s focus on building a resilient, customer-focused and purpose-led business.

‎“We are delighted to see Kunle receive this recognition. It reflects his commitment to excellence, innovation and the continued development of the insurance industry.

‎“His leadership at AXA Mansard has helped strengthen our focus on building a resilient, customer-focused and purpose-led business. We are proud of his contributions and the example he continues to set for our organisation and the sector,” Mabel-Adewusi said.

‎The Marketing Edge Awards, organised by Marketing Edge, a Nigerian marketing communications publication, recognises outstanding achievements across marketing, advertising, brand communications and related fields.

‎The recognition of Ahmed underscores the importance of leadership that combines corporate performance with broader industry development, particularly at a time when Nigeria’s insurance sector is seeking to improve penetration, enhance public trust and expand access to risk protection.

‎For AXA Mansard, the award also reflects its commitment to its purpose of “Acting for human progress by protecting what matters” and contributing to the development of an insurance industry capable of supporting individuals, families and businesses.
