CAMCONIA to Strengthen Partnership with NAIPE to Drive Insurance Growth, Penetration

Being text of the goodwill message by Mr. Bankole Banjo, Chairman, Corporate Affairs Managers Committee of the Nigerian Insurers Association (CAMCONIA) at the 11th national conference of the Nigerian Association of Insurance and Pension Editors (NAIPE) in Lagos.

I bring you warm fraternal greetings from the Corporate Affairs Managers Committee of the Nigerian Insurers Association – CAMCONIA.

On behalf of my Executives and all Heads of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Communications of member-companies of the Nigerian Insurers Association, I congratulate the leadership and entire members of NAIPE on the successful hosting of this Annual National Conference.

Over the years, NAIPE has distinguished itself as a dependable and strategic ally in the development of our industries. Your commitment to factual, balanced and developmental reporting has continued to deepen insurance penetration, strengthen pension awareness, and build public confidence. We truly value this partnership.

I must specially commend you for the apt choice of this year’s theme: “Post-Recapitalisation and Market Dynamics in Insurance & Pension Sectors.”

This theme is strategic and forward-looking. As we transition into the post-recapitalisation era, the conversation must now shift to what this new capital strength means for market capacity, product innovation, consumer protection, operational resilience, and sustainable growth. Your Conference provides the right platform to shape this narrative and set the agenda for the next phase of our industries.

I have no doubt that the insights from this gathering will enrich public understanding and reinforce the role of insurance and pensions as critical pillars of Nigeria’s financial system.

To my dear friends and partners in NAIPE, I assure you of CAMCONIA’s unwavering commitment to deeper collaboration, mutual respect, open engagement and of course, professionalism. Together, we will continue to tell the Nigerian insurance and pension story better.

As I close, I’d like to quickly reiterate the place of professionalism and mutual respect in our collaboration. We are fully aware many of you have direct access to the leadership of our various organisations. This is a good and commendable sign of long-term friendship and Camaraderie. However, remember that for every access, there are gatekeepers; and for every decision maker, there are others in the decision- making unit whose importance in the scheme of things should not be overlooked and ignored. I do hope as partners, we will not take that esteemed access for granted nor the place of the gatekeepers in all of these.

I wish you very fruitful deliberations and a successful conference.

Thank you and God bless.

CBN Defends Forex Ban Policy

Mr. Moses Tule, Director of Monetary Policy, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has stoutly defended the recent restrictions placed on forex by the apex bank, saying it is a move to stem gradual erosion of value of the Naira. The CBN had placed a ban on importers of certain commodities from accessing foreign exchange from the forex window. Tule was a guest speaker at a Forum organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) that sought to bring together the regulator and the private sector to discuss urgent and topical issues that have implications for the economy.
